Re: Final Rule Issued on Employment of Veterans and on Section 503 of the Rehabilitation Act, as amended
Date: Thursday, August 29, 2013
For those who read on the run, this Washington Wire deals with the Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contracts Compliance Programs (OFCCP) Annual Final Regulations on Employment of Veterans and Individuals with Disabilities.
These new rules amend prior regulations implementing the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act of 1974, and Section 503 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended, which encourage hiring of veterans and individuals with disabilities.
An important aspect of the new rules is the establishment of a goal of 8 percent of an employer’s workforce for veterans and 7 percent of an employer’s workforce for individuals with disabilities.
The OFCCP also announced the publication of a new Federal Contract Compliance Manual (FCCM).
